About me
I’m MARIA RYLOTT-BYRD, aka The Corneothearapy Consultant™ [BA Hons, CIDESCO, CIBTAC, AET] and I'm based in the UK.
I'm a purist Corneotherapist, Skin Science Educator and Beauty Business Mentor with over 35 years of experience in the professional skin industry.

My journey began back in the 1980s as a proud Champneys girl, at a time when the beauty industry looked very different from today. Those early foundations, together with international experience managing prestigious salons both in the UK and abroad, shaped the professional I am today. I often joke that I could write a book about the clients I’ve met along the way!

From the very start, my mantra has always been 'skin health first'. When I discovered Corneotherapy, everything suddenly made sense. It gave scientific validation to what I had always intuitively believed that healthy skin begins with a functional, respected barrier.
By combining corneotherapy with Sk-Intellekt™, my own trademarked functional approach to skin health, I achieved transformative results for my clients, not just improving their skin, but also their confidence and overall wellbeing. Working with positivity, honesty, and integrity has always been the cornerstone of my career, and something I’m deeply proud of.

After 18 successful years running my own skin clinic, I felt called to share my expertise more widely. Today, I dedicate my work to educating and mentoring skin therapists and corneotherapists, helping them to truly understand the science of skin function, build confidence in their practice and develop thriving businesses centred on authenticity and purpose.

Through my courses, masterclasses, mentoring programmes, events and speaking engagements, I aim to expand minds and elevate standards in our industry. I love to stimulate curiosity and critical thinking, empowering professionals to go beyond surface-level learning and embrace the depth of knowledge needed to excel.

I consider it an incredible privilege to now write, lecture, represent my association and advocate for Corneotherapy at home and across the globe. I truly believe if my work inspires even one therapist to pursue excellence with integrity, then I know I’ve done my job well.
